第一讲——澳大利亚科廷大学孙捷教授学术报告
题目：The Stochastic Transportation Problem: An Old Model and a New Look

摘要：Consider a transportation network with deterministic supply and stochastic demand. We demonstrate that the problem is equivalent to a piecewise linear-quadratic network optimization problem when the transportation cost is linear and the objective is to minimize the total transportation cost, along with the expected penalty imposed by the shortage/surplus of demand. Moreover, if the demand vector's distribution is discrete, then the well-known network simplex method can be extended to efficiently solve the problem. If time permits, some practically meaningful research topics will be briefly discussed.
报告人简介：孙捷教授于1986年获美国华盛顿大学博士学位，是国际知名的优化领域学者与教育家，在内点算法、半光滑牛顿法等方向作出了重要且具有影响力的贡献。近年来，他的研究兴趣主要集中于随机变分不等式及不确定性决策问题。在优化、运筹学、商学与数学等领域的重要学术期刊上发表论文170余篇。特别地，2003年至2012年期间，连续被科学信息研究所（ISI）列为“高被引数学家”，并曾获新加坡国立大学“杰出大学研究员奖”。
2011至2014年，孙捷教授担任太平洋优化研究活动组（Pacific Optimization Research Activity Group）主席，积极推动并组织了多场亚太地区的重要国际优化会议。他曾担任《Mathematical Programming》《Mathematics of Operations Research》《Pacific Journal of Optimization》等国际顶级期刊的编委或副主编。孙捷教授曾任新加坡国立大学讲席教授、新加坡-麻省理工学院联盟会士。目前，他是澳大利亚数学学会会士，并任澳大利亚科廷大学与新加坡国立大学荣休教授。
